Our client, an International School based in Nairobi, Kenya is seeking to recruit a principal . The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in education and a minimum of 10 years teaching experience 5 years at management level, in a recognised school. He/ She will be responsible for providing exceptional educational leadership that fosters a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for Grade 2 – Grade 6 students. The purpose of this role is to inspire and guide a team of educators in adopting innovative teaching methods, designing age-appropriate CBC teaching methods, and promoting social-emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop the curriculum for each class, and partner with teaching staff to determine how the curriculum will be executed.
- Monitor students’ progress and provide students and teachers with assistance in resolving any problems.
- Set educational standards and goals and help establish policies, procedures, and programs to carry them out.
- Engage in ongoing assessment and evaluation of policies, procedures, and programs, and implement change to achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate staff and recommend developmental activities for programs and services.
- Supervise, lead, and support teaching and administrative staff.
- Develop allocations of funds for staff, supplies, educational materials, and equipment, authorize purchases, and manage the budget.
- Work with parents as needed for their child’s development, education, and safety.
- Ensure that the school always complies with regulatory requirements.
- To initiate teacher’s preparations of Schemes of Work and development of appropriate instructional materials especially teaching aids.
- To Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons to a range of classes including putting up displays in the classroom.
Key Qualifications:
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in education preferably ECD.
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Education or Education Management will be preferred.
- Must be registered by TSC.
- Must have a minimum of 10 years teaching experience 5 years at management level, in a recognised school.
- Knowledge of what constitutes quality in educational provision, and the characteristics of effective schools.
- Strong knowledge of CBC curriculum and practices.
- Creativity, initiative, flexibility, and strong communication skills are essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills: the ability to interact and communicate effectively with parents, children, and staff.
